How To Report

  • Identify if the situation is bullying (Has this happened more than once? Do you feel powerless? Am I being hurt with words or actions?)
  • Let a trusted adult know that you are being bullied
  • With that adult or on your own, make contact with another trusted adult in the organization or the school. (Teacher / Coach / Program Worker)
  • If the issue is not resolved, go to the next level (Principal, Supervisor, Manager)
  • Set up a meeting with the school or the organisation
  • Bring facts in writing – include specific details (Who, When, Where)
  • Work on a safety plan with the school or the organization
  • Ask about bullying protocols and procedures
  • If not adequately addressed, contact superintendent/trustee/director/etc.
  • In serious bullying cases contact police
  • Use supports outside the school or the organisation for extra support (Check the get help now page)
  • Every effort should be made to work directly with those initially involved before moving to the next step
  • Identify if the situation you have witnessed is bullying (Has this happened more than once? Did the situation make the person being bullied feel powerless? Was the person being bullied being hurt with words or actions?)Let a trusted adult know that you have witnessed bullying
  • With that adult or on your own make contact with another trusted adult in the organization or the school where the bullying occured. (Teacher / Coach / Program Worker)
  • Bring facts in writing – include specific details (Who, When, Where)
  • Ask them to keep your report anonymous
  • If you notice bullying continuing follow up with the trusted adults to let them know
  • If bullying continues after the follow up conversation, contact the principal, supervisor, or manager
  • In serious bullying cases contact the police
  • Who will look into your report and when?
  • When will that person get back to you, and what information can you expect?
  • How will the school, now that they are aware of the problem, keep  the person being bullied safe while the problem is being investigated?
  • How will my identity and privacy be protected to prevent retaliation?
